Friends & support

Friends of the Kestrel

A producing house pays for its own sets, its own casts and its own rehearsal weeks. Friends are how the rooms upstairs stay busy between runs.

Membership starts at £6 a month. Join at the box office window or by phone.

Volunteer front-of-house

Around forty local people take tickets, sell programmes, staff the quiet room and show people to their seats. One shift a fortnight is a normal commitment, you see the show for free, and we train you on a Saturday morning. No experience needed and no upper age limit.

Hire the studio

The 60-seat studio is available for rehearsals, readings, workshops and small runs when it is not programmed. Flat floor, basic rig, tea urn. Community and local-artist rates are lower than the standard day rate — ask and we will tell you which one you fall into.

Hire the main house

The 180-seat auditorium takes one-night events, school performances and conferences on Mondays and dark weeks. Includes a duty technician and front-of-house cover. We do not hire the house out during a mainstage run.
